Mom

It has been just over a year since my mother passed away though I miss her every day I am coming to terms with it more as each day passes.  She will always be in my heart and with me in whatever I do, but there are times I really wish I could talk to her and ask her advice on things. Those are the times I miss her most. I want to pick up the phone and say "Hey Mom, what do you think about...or what do you know about..." She always gave good advice, even when I did not take it I often later realized that I should have because she was right.

I can remember her telling me some things that I totally ignored and later learned how right she was, but she also knew I needed to learn from my own mistakes and was not one to tell me "I told you so."

I wrote out a list the other day of things I remembered about her and stories she had told me. One is that I come from strong stock. She told me that my Great-Grandmother had been one of the women who was fighting for women's rights, back when Susan B. Anthony was. She believed women having the same rights, and my mother was a leader, for women. She worked outside the home with I was a child and most mothers stayed at home.

When I look at her picture it still brings tears to my eyes as I miss her every day, but I try to remember all that she taught me and to be strong.  We did not agree on everything, but she instilled in me good values and morals and raised me a Christian with a strong belief and faith in God. I know that someday we will meet again in heaven and that she is enjoying her time in heaven in with her parents and other family members and friends who have gone before her and since.

Wishing you all many blessings.

Word of the Year 2017

I decided that since last year was so chaotic and I never did achieve my word of the year that I would carry it over to this year. I am keeping Shalom as my word for 2017.

Many people think shalom means peace but the meaning is much more in depth, comprehensive, detailed, and balanced than simple peace and because of the chaos in my life at this point I believe it is the perfect word for me.
sha·lom
SHäˈlōm,SHəˈlōm/
exclamation
  1. used as salutation by Jews at meeting or parting, meaning “peace.”
  2. Origin
    from Hebrew šālōm .
  3. https://www.google.com/search?q=Shalom&oq=Shalom&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.2191j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&dtrnscllps=1&expnd=1&brd=1485141077392000&expnd=1

Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, says that shalom means “completeness, soundness, welfare, peace.” That is what I am looking for completeness and peace.

Shalom means peace, and is rooted in the word שלם (shaleim), which means completion. Without peace, there can be no completion...  http://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/960878/jewish/What-Does-Shalom-Mean.htm
While it is true that it can mean “peace” and even “hello” and “goodbye”, the Hebrew word "shalom" is steeped in much deeper meaning. ... Shalom carries a root significance of “harmony, wellness, contentment, completeness, wholeness, well being” (and much more).May 14, 2012

Shalom... the true meaning - Trauma Headquarters

In translation of the Hebrew word Shalom (number 7965 in the Strong’s Concordance). According the Strong’s the word Shalom means safe, well happy, friendly, health, perfect, prosperity, peace,  good health and wholeness ( nothing missing nothing broken).
So, when the bible exhorts you to be at peace, it is also saying that ou should be in good health. In so many words sound and good health is a portion of we wholeness of peace!

Consider the meaning of the word in its original root: Shalom means peace, prosperity, health, wholeness, security! Shalom means much more than the absence of war! It means integrity, harmony and fulfillment that ideas are closest to the meaning of the word. Shalom is the implicit idea that relationships are not disrupted by other people and wish success for people in their contracts.

This year my goal is to seek peace in every way I can. I find that I am achieving that by purging my home of things we do not need or use, and by taking time for me. A nice cup of herbal tea, eating healthy, and journaling at the things that I am using to help me on my journey to peace.

Shalom - "Shalom is more then just simply peace; it is a complete peace. It is a feeling of contentment, completeness, wholeness, well being and harmony. According to Strong's Concordance 7965 Shalom means completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord. Shalom comes from the root verb shalom meaning to be complete, perfect and full. " The Meaning of Shalom
With all that has gone on in December I know that the start of 2016 will be rocky in some ways.

I feel a connection with this word in more ways than one and that I can connect with the multiple meanings.
